Discovering Strength Through Sport
Hello! I'm Morghan, and my journey into weightlifting began in 2012, leading me to the Olympic stage in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro representing Team USA. With a diverse background as a multi-sport athlete—having competed in soccer, endurance running, triathlons, and CrossFit—I've always relied on my mental and physical experiences to fuel my athletic growth. Each sport taught me valuable lessons about discipline, resilience, and the power of the mind-body connection. These years of dedication and athletic exploration shaped the athlete I became, propelling me to the pinnacle of my sport and fueling my desire to keep evolving.
Integrating Mindfulness and Body Awareness
Throughout my journey, I began to see that strength was not just about physical power—it was also about mental clarity. This realization led me to explore mindfulness, breathwork, and yoga, understanding that integrating these practices with my training could unlock untapped potential. The value of recovery tools like these is well known but less discussed in the world of strength and conditioning. I embraced them to better understand and enhance the connection between my mind and body, helping me navigate the highs and lows of elite competition and the transition out of professional sport. Now, as a coach, I use these principles to teach athletes how to tap into their own strengths and create a mindset that serves their personal growth.
A New Approach
As a retired athlete, I continue to evolve by integrating functional movement and strength training into my daily life. It’s no longer about being highly specialized; it's about reconnecting to the body, embracing holistic movement, and finding balance in health and fitness while still being able to push the edges. My experience has shown me how disconnected the mind and body can become at the highest levels of sport. Now, I’m dedicated to helping others reintegrate and find a more functional, sustainable approach to movement and connection. I am currently pursuing a licensure in somatic psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies, continuing my journey to understand and share the power of the mind-body connection with others through sport and coaching.
